Pharmaceutical composition (A) for sustained release comprises tamsulosin (I), or its salt, and a carrier, and has a ratio Cmin/Cmax at least 0.4, where Cmin = plasma concentration of (I) 24 hours after oral administration, and Cmax = maximum plasma concentration of (I). ACTIVITY : Uropathic. MECHANISM OF ACTION : alpha -adrenoceptor-antagonist. (I) is active on alpha -adrenoceptors in the urethral/prostate region, thus reducing the pressure exerted by a hypertrophic prostate.
