PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for driving a motor, capable of simply and easily change acceleration/deceleration control using an acceleration/deceleration function. SOLUTION: In a motor drive device 1, a motor clock generator 2 generates a motor clock of the specified frequency, and the generated motor clock is counted by a high-speed counter 4. The clock frequency which is specified to the motor clock generator 2 is calculated with a clock frequency calculator 5 using the acceleration/deceleration function based on a count value of the high-speed counter 4. A step motor drive part 3 rotates the motor based on the motor clock generated by the motor clock generator 2. The acceleration/deceleration control is simply and easily changed only by changing a coefficient, with no generation of an acceleration/deceleration table, thus acceleration/deceleration control of the motor is efficiently and easily performed.
