DYNAMIC BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION METHOD TAKING MULTIPLEX SERVICE INTO CONSIDERATION IN ETHERNET (R) PASSIVE OPTICAL SUBSCRIBER NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamic bandwidth allocation method taking a multiplex service into consideration in an Ethernet (R) passive optical subscriber network. SOLUTION: A dynamic allocation method of bandwidths of OLT (Optical Line Terminal) 50 and ONU (Optical Network Unit) 60 is provided in a Gigabit Ethernet passive optical subscriber network (GE-PON). A scheduler 52 for the OLT transmits a unified scheduling result with respect to a single ONU through a gate message after the scheduling is achieved, based on a multiplex queue requirement information in a REPOT message transmitted from the ONU. A scheduler 70 for the ONU conducts scheduling, based on the bandwidths allocated by the OLT and allocates transmission bandwidth to each queue which belongs to itself. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
