PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for thermal transfer of a metal foil capable of efficiently inspecting deviation of a predetermined position of the foil transfer in the axial direction of a tube and correcting it, and capable of thermally transferring the metal foil while a positional relation with printing displaying is accurately held without decreasing a working efficiency for transferring the foil. SOLUTION: An amount of positional deviation in the axial direction of the foil transfer is calculated based on information on an end edge position on the axial side of a mark printed on the tube by moving a sliding mechanism 12 in the forward and backward direction and detecting the end edge in the axial direction of the mark printed on the tube by a color sensor 13 for detecting the mark. At the same time when a mandrel 1b is started to move to a position of a mandrel 1c, in accordance with the amount of positional deviation in the axial direction of the foil transfer calculated in the positional deviation detecting process, a front and back slide 23 is moved by the amount of the deviation in the forward and backward direction.
