A method of producing rumen bypass nutrient compositions consists of mixing the nutrient e.g., an amino acid or polyamino acid, with a fatty acid, fatty acid salt, fat, polyethylene, or combinations of the same, and melting the composition with heat and mixing to produce a homogeneous low viscosity melt mixture. The melt is formed into geometric or nearly geometric shapes by prilling or pelletizing that results in a bead having a substantially continuous exterior surface of hydrophobic fat, fatty acid, fatty acid salt, polyethylene or a combination thereof, and has a diameter from 0.5 to 30 millimeters, with 1 to 7 millimeters being preferred. The method produces novel rumen bypass nutrient beadlets in an efficient economical one step process. |
