From the front, the display comprises a front polarization filter, a liquid crystal layer (12), a back polarization filter (13) and a scattering layer (14) or retroreflection layer. The scattering layer or retroreflection layer is provided with fluorescent pigment. The liquid crystal layer is clear when no voltage is applied. A back light (HL) may be provided behind the scattering layer.
