PURPOSE: A device and a method for automatically controlling a camera in a folder-type mobile communication terminal are provided to rotatively move a camera lens such that the camera lens can always go into the inside of a folder when the folder is closed, thereby preventing the camera lens from being damaged. CONSTITUTION: A mode setup unit(300) sets a mode by sensing on/off operations of a folder. A micro computer(200) detects a current position of a camera(100) by a mode setup signal outputted from the mode setup unit(300), and outputs a control signal for controlling a stop position of the camera(100) and a rotative direction of a motor(500). A driver(400) drives the motor(500) by the outputted control signal. The motor(500) rotates the camera(100) toward an inner side of the folder by a motor driving signal.
