PURPOSE: A wedge-type clutch is provided to improve the efficiency of power transmission by firmly combining an expansion wedge of a clutch shaft and a wedge groove of a clutch body by wedge action. CONSTITUTION: A wedge-type clutch comprises a clutch shaft(10), a release cone(20), a release sleeve(30), plural pins(40), and a clutch body(50). In the clutch shaft, an expansion cylinder(12) having a taper hole(13) is formed to one end of an input shaft(11) and an expansion wedge(16) of a ring type is formed to the end of the expansion cylinder. Plural slots(17) are formed to the expansion cylinder and the expansion wedge along the longitudinal direction. The release cone is mounted to the taper hole of the expansion cylinder. The release cone moves along the taper hole of the expansion cylinder for expansion of the expansion cylinder and the expansion wedge. The release sleeve is mounted to the outside of the expansion cylinder in a state capable of moving along the axial direction. The pins connect the release sleeve and the release cone through the expansion cylinder to make the release sleeve and the release cone interlocked. The clutch body has a wedge groove(51) receiving the expansion wedge to make the expansion wedge combined by wedge action.
