Raw materials i.e. pigments, binders, solvents and additives are fed into the base of a vertical cylinder partly filled with milling media e.g. hard metal chippings, alumina balls or the like retained by a cylindrical sieve cap at the top and continuously agitated by at least two motor and gear driven vertical shafts each carrying a number of blades. The finished product passes through the sieve into an upper collector chamber and thence from the machine. A variety of geometrical shaft and blade configurations and of methods of drive are proposed. Flushing pipes and heater/cooler jackets may be included. Significant increase in product yield and quality.
