<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an input image to be divided to be domain-divided more quickly. <P>SOLUTION: A first thinned image Ia which has thinned an input image Ii to be divided by a first rate of thinning Ra is domain-divided and an approximate number and center of the domain of the input image Ii are estimated. Next, by using the estimated result, a second thinned image Ib which has thinned the input image Ii by a second rate of thinning Rb smaller than the first rate of thinning Ra is domain-divided, and the number and the center of the domain of the input image Ii are calculated.
