PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and economical technique which can prevent an interaction between a cylinder in the scavenging stroke in which scavenging of combustion gas is performed among cylinders in the intake stroke, and a cylinder in the exhaust stroke. SOLUTION: There is provided a combustion method for a supercharging four-stroke engine including at least four cylinders 10, in which one cylinder of the engine is in the exhaust stroke while the other cylinders are in the intake stroke of the supercharged gas accompanied with the scavenging stroke of the combustion gas in the combustion cycle. The starting point of the exhaust stroke of the cylinder in the exhaust stroke is shifted with respect to the starting point of the combustion gas scavenging stroke of the cylinder in the intake stroke.
