PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deformation of a cylinder bore 16 due to a bolt shaft force or the like. SOLUTION: Six stays 31-36 are crossed between a pair of opposing walls 28 facing each other with the bank valley 15 of a cylinder block 10 therebetween. Each of the stays 31-36 is inclined in a direction opposite to the inclined direction of an offset line L1 connecting objects facing each other with the bank valley 15 in between, for example, the centers of the cylinders #1 and #2, with respect to an engine width direction C3 orthogonal to a cylinder array direction C2.
