PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition capable of improving wet grip performance without lowering the processability and abrasion resistance and provide a tire produced by using the rubber composition as the tread. SOLUTION: The rubber composition is composed of 100 pts. wt. of a rubber component containing≥40 wt.% styrene-butadiene rubber, 80-200 pts. wt. of silica and 80-250 pts. wt. of a softening agent. The styrene-butadiene rubber has a weight-average molecular weight of≥1,000,000 (standard polystyrene equivalent molecular weight), a bonded styrene content of 10-40 wt.%, a vinyl content of≥65 wt.% and an oil extension of≥50 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the solid content of the styrene-butadiene rubber. The rubber composition has a peak temperature of tanδ-temperature dispersion of≥-5°C. The tire has a tread composed of the rubber composition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
