PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst component comprising a transition metal complex which does not cause lowering in activity even when stored in the form of a solution for a long time. SOLUTION: The olefin polymerization catalyst component (α) comprises (A) a compound of a group 4 transition metal in the periodic table which is prepared in an inert gas at room temperature or lower, contains a cyclopentadienyl ligand, the cyclopentadienyl group being substitutable, and has this cyclopentadienyl skeleton, (B) an organoaluminum compound, and (C) a hydrocarbon. This catalyst component meets expression (Eq-1) and expression (Eq-2) when the concentration of (A) the compound of a group 4 transition metal in the periodic table in the composition is taken as x (mmol/L) and the concentration of (B) the organoaluminum compound is taken as y (mmol/L).
