PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical glass having a higher refractive index and higher dispersion characteristics, capable of press forming at a low temperature by being softened without causing devitrification of glass and also having a low liquid phase temperature and excellent stability. SOLUTION: The low melting point optical glass contains, by weight, 2-29% P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, 2-25% Na<SB>2</SB>O,≥4% and less than 22% Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>and 20-52% WO<SB>3</SB>. The glass has a refractive index of 1.70-1.86, a dispersion rate of 21-35 and a glass yield point of≤570°C. The low melting point optical glass contains, by weight, 12-32% P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, 0.5-16% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0.3-6% Li<SB>2</SB>O, 2-22% Na<SB>2</SB>O and 8-52% Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>.
