PURPOSE: A method for controlling multimedia contents of a mobile communication terminal is provided to maintain an operation of an executed program by using a suspend/resume function of a Java program, when a flip or a folder of a terminal is abnormally closed, thereby retaining program data of downloaded or executed contents. CONSTITUTION: In a normal state(201), a terminal mounted with a Java engine downloads various multimedia contents(202), and executes a game(203). The terminal decides whether a flip or a folder of the terminal is open/closed(204), and temporarily stops a currently downloaded network if a terminal cover is abnormally closed(205). The network sends a suspend event to a VM(Virtual Machine)(206), and an executed game event is controlled with a suspend holding command(207). When currently executed events are held(207), a Java sound of the Java engine is temporarily suspended(208). An alert event is generated(209), and a user interface is displayed on a sub LCD(210). The terminal decides whether the terminal cover is resumed(211). If so, the terminal displays a pop-up screen(212), and resumes all events(213).
