PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Al alloy plate for a rim which is excellent in moldability and is suitable for use in a production method of a wheel rim, in which a short cylindrical member is deep-drawn and sliced to produce several wheel rims. SOLUTION: The Al alloy plate for the luminescent wheel rim is made of an Al alloy comprising 1.8-3.8% Mg,≤0.15% Fe,≤0.15% Si,≤0.10% Mn and≤0.10% Cr, has a maximum grain orientation density of at most 30 times larger than that for random orientation, an edge ratio of≤6% and an average crystal grain size of≤100μm, and has 5-620/mm<SP>2</SP>intermetallic compounds having a maximum diameter of≥3μm on the plate surface. The Al alloy plate may contain 0.01-0.20% Cu. In its production method, hot-rolling comprising roughing rolling and finishing rolling is performed. In a hot rolling, rough rolling is performed with a rolling reduction of 15-50 mm at least once at a step of a plate thickness of 150-35 mm and a finishing temperature is controlled to 400-480°C. Finish rolling is performed with a final pass rolling speed of 20-75 m/min and a finishing temperature of 170-260°C. Then, cold rolling is performed with a rolling reduction of 15-45%, and final annealing is performed at 290-500°C for 0.5-10 hr. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
