PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a pressing apparatus by which the deflection quantity of the whole apparatus at the pressing can accurately be corrected. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the pressing apparatus, based on data of the relational characteristic between the deflection and the load of the whole pressing apparatus pre-input with a calculation means, this control method is provided with a process, in which the loading quantity to the pressing apparatus is detected with a load detector and the detected value is transmitted to the above calculating means, and the deflection quantity to be corrected based on the data of the relational characteristic between the deflection and the load of the whole pressing apparatus with the calculating means and successively, a process, in which an ascending/descending rod position correcting this reflection quantity, is calculated, and a process, in which a command is output to a motor from a control means so that the actual position of the above ascending/descending rod becomes to the position of the above ascending/descending rod correcting this deflection quantity to correct the position of the ascending/descending rod.
