Bracket-like screening parts (42) are positioned around the intakes in the cylinder head to initiate a tumble flow in the combustion chamber. Both of the screening part is interrupted in the area of the fuel jet (40a), so that the jet is directly subjected to part of the incoming combustion air. One or both screening parts extend towards each other around the plates (34a) of the intake valves (34). The parts project into the combustion chamber and have a height of approx. 0,1 to 4mm. The average angle of the fuel jet during injection is between 10 - 30[deg] relative to a vertical defined by the cylinder axis (22).
