BACKLIGHT ASSEMBLY FOR PROJECTING LIGHT TO A LIGHT GUIDE PLATE WITHOUT LEAKAGE OF THE LIGHT AND AN LCD INCLUDING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A backlight assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) including the same are provided to project light to a light guide plate without leakage of the light in case of using an LED(Light Emitting Diode) as a light source, thereby enhancing display quality of the LCD by using a guide groove for guiding the light of the LED to the light guide plate. CONSTITUTION: A light source(210) generates the first light and the second light. A light guide plate(220) has a receiving groove(221) for receiving the light source and a guide groove(222) adjacent to the receiving groove. The receiving groove is formed at the first end portion of the light guide plate. The guide groove guides the second light to the second end portion of the light guide plate, wherein the first end portion is opposite to the second end portion. The first light is projected to the first end portion, and the second light is reflected from the guide groove to be projected to the second end portion.
