PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display showing excellent display quality without inducing a decrease in the contrast or tone due to depolarization or leaking of light caused by spacer particles. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display having a pixel region arranged along a fixed pattern and a light shielding region defining the pixel region, a substrate prepared by using an ink-jet device to jet a spacer particle dispersion liquid where spacer particles are dispersed onto the light shielding region of a substrate formed with pixels or onto the region of a substrate not formed with pixels and corresponding to the light shielding region, and a substrate with no spacer particles deposited thereon are disposed opposite to each other via the spacer particles deposited in the light shielding region or in the region corresponding to the light shielding region. The method for manufacturing the above liquid crystal display includes processes of landing drops of the spacer particle dispersion liquid in a place having a low energy surface formed in the light shielding region or in the region corresponding to the light shielding region of at least one substrate, and drying to leave the spacer particles to remain in the light shielding region or the region corresponding to the light shielding region.
