PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester with which the continuous moldability over a long period is excellent and a molded product having excellent transparency and heat-resistant dimensional stability with slight variation of crystallization rate, especially a heat-resistant blow molded product can be obtained. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polyester is characterized as follows. A contact treatment is simultaneously carried out while removing fines and/or a filmy material from polyester resin chips in a method for modifying the polyester by carrying out the contact treatment of the polyester resin chips with at least one kind of a member made of a polyolefin resin, a member made of a polyamide resin, a member made of a polyacetal resin and a member made of a polybutylene terephthalate resin.
