<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the using quantity of a sealing material for keeping airtightness between the hardware body of a sensor and an element, to improve sealing performance, and to shorten the sensor. <P>SOLUTION: A detection element 15 is positioned in the hardware body 2, and an electrode layer on the circumferential surface is electrically connected, and a terminal member 31 is inserted into the element 15 and electrically connected to an electrode layer on the inner circumferential surface, to thereby form this gas sensor. When keeping seal by compressing the sealing material 21 between the hardware body 2 and the detection element 15 to the tip side by a ceramic sleeve 25 having a flange 28, the sealing material 21 is arranged on the furthermore tip side than rear ends 2b, 15c of the hardware body and the detection element. Then, the sleeve tip 26 is positioned on the furthermore tip side than the rear end 15c of the detection element and the sealing material 21 is compressed. Since the sealing material 21 does not cross over a terminal member unlike before in the axis G direction, the quantity thereof is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
