<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber attenuator capable of obtaining desired exiting light power, and to provide a manufacturing method of the optical fiber attenuator which is convenient and with which high production efficiency can be realized. <P>SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the optical fiber attenuator, one part of an optical fiber which is provided with a first core 11 located on cross-section central part and one or more second cores 12 located on such a position that the reach quantity of light propagating through the first core 11 and a clad 13 near the first core 11 comes to 0.01 dB/m or less is heated and elongated.
