PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an image by which the configuration of a developing apparatus and a fixing apparatus can be simplified with excellent fixing and developing properties, in a two-component development method using color toner. SOLUTION: The method for forming an image is carried out by: applying a DC bias to a developer carrying body which carries a two-component developer; and developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrostatic latent image carrying body disposed leaving a specified gap from the developer carrying body with the color toner to form a toner image. The method features that: (A) the amount of the color toner in the developer carried by the developer carrying body ranges from 1.0 to 3.5 mg/cm<SP>2</SP>; (B) the gap between the developer carrying body and the electrostatic latent image carrying body is 250 to 600μm; (C) the distribution of electrostatic charges in the color toner on the developer carrying body shows a peak at an absolute value of 5 to 25μC/g in an environment of 23°C and 60% relative humidity and the amount of toner charged into the opposite polarity in the above environment is≤10 vol%; and (D) the color toner contains at least binder resin, a coloring agent, an aromatic oxycarboxylic acid compound and wax.
