PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber sensor which allows remote measurement at a real time in an on-site, without depending on sampling, in the optical fiber sensor applied with a principle of refractive index measurement wherein a hetero core type optical fiber element is combined with a surface plasmon resonance phenomenon. SOLUTION: This sensor has an optical fiber element wire 11 comprising an optical fiber serving as a light transmission path, a sensor element part 14 connected to a midway of the optical fiber element wire 11, and comprising an optical fiber having a core of a diameter different from that of a core of the optical fiber element wire 11, a metal thin film provided in an outer circumference of the sensor element part 14, and a sensor head 2 fixed in a midway of the optical fiber element wire 11, and built in with the sensor element part 14.
