PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the wear at a large inside diameter portion formed in a track groove of a flangeless type outside coupling member. SOLUTION: A tripod type constant speed universal joint has a flangeless outside coupling member 10, and roller assemblies including rollers 34 swingably mounted on leg shafts 22. Hardened layers 41b are formed at the portions in contact with the tilted roller assemblies 37 in large inside diameter portions 15 of the coupling member 10. In this case, the distance F from the center L of the track groove 12 of the outside coupling member 10 to the ends of both hardened layers 41b located on the side of the center of the track groove is set to be F/D≤0.45, where D is the outside diameter of the roller assembly 37.
