PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is a case that a table for handling file management information runs short when the capacity of a recording medium increases, however, in this case, compatibility is lost when the structure of a file system is changed. SOLUTION: A subfile area is provided and subfile management information and the subfile are recorded in the area. The subfile and the subfile management information are registered in the main file management information as one file. In addition, file management information corresponding to different file systems is also written at the time of finalization. Further, the subfile management information is provided in addition to the main file management information for the purpose of file management. The subfile and the subfile management information for managing it are put together and handled as one file on the main file management information.
