PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an imaging apparatus which can further reduce in thickness upon extending and retracting of lens barrels of the imaging apparatus using an imaging element laminating an optical filter on a protective glass without the possibility of damaging the optical filter, and to provide a camera having the same. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes the imaging element having the optical filter fixed to an optical incident surface side, an imaging optical system for guiding a subject light to the imaging element, an elastic member having an opening and formed in a box state to surround the side face of the imaging element, and a ground plate having a hole in which an elastic member and the imaging element are inserted.
