PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus for vehicle that easily and quickly retrieve destination information required by a user in response to in-vehicle condition. SOLUTION: In this navigation system for vehicle for displaying an electronic map on a display screen, and for indicating the present position of the vehicle on the electronic map together with an advancing direction of the vehicle, the in-vehicle condition including the number of occupants or a preference of the occupants is detected by sensors such as an occupant detecting sensor, a retrieval condition is generated to retrieve a destination based on the detected in-vehicle condition, and the destination is retrieved based on the retrieval condition.
