PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new optically/electronically functional polymer compound which can control optical/electronic characteristics between principal chains, between side chains or between both the chains of constituting the polymer, and has excellent melting and dissolving properties, film formability and moldability, by selecting luminous properties of the chain and the side chain and controlling molecular orientation deriving from liquid cristallinity etc. SOLUTION: The side chain type conductive polymer has the principle chain of a polyaromaticπ-conjugated compound selected from the group consisting of a polyfuran, polythiophene, polypyrrole, polyfluorene and their substituted derivatives, and has the side chain essentially having a stick-shaped semiconductor liquid crystal group which has fluorescence emitting characteristics and charge transport characteristics by hopping conduction.
