PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus capable of reporting that, when the start of a certain function is instructed on the side of a handset, a base unit does not correspond to the function. SOLUTION: When a call is made from a handset to an opposite side connected with a line and a talk speed converting operation is performed by an input part of the handset during the call, a function inquiry signal is transmitted from the handset to the base unit (step S140) and when it is judged on the side of the base unit that a talk speed converting function is included in neither function information of the base unit nor function information of the handset which are stored in a second storage part (S150), an inquiry response signal is transmitted from the base unit to the handset.
