PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable selecting an electronic device to be controlled by measuring reception strength of remote control signals of a plurality of electronic devices, without causing a cost rise. SOLUTION: A transistor Tr2 and a capacitor C are added to a remote control output circuit, thereby transmitting a variable signal in which output strength from a light-emitting diode 12 gradually decreases, from a remote control transmitter. In the electronic device which has received this variable signal, the period from the time when the reception of variable is sensed until the time variable signal is not sensed is measured, so that the reception strength of the remote control signal in the electronic device is converted into time information and is measured. In this way, the reception strength in the electronic device can be easily measured only by providing a simple adding configuration to a remote control transmitter as a transmitter side of the remote control signal without providing an expensive A/D converter or an adding configuration to an electronic device serving as a receiver side of the remote control signal.
