OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE CIRCUIT WITH VARIABLE LIGHT-ATTENUATION MECHANISM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide circuit with an optical waveguide variable light-attenuation mechanism capable of continuously and also discriminatively attenuating an optional output from a plurality of channels by a single mechanism. SOLUTION: The variable light-attenuator 20 of this invention is arranged in a groove 16 prepared in a substrate 11 of an optical waveguide multiplexer/demultiplexer 10 or at the end part of the substrate, and has a shutter 22 for shading or reflecting the light outputted from a core 14a of the end part of the groove or the substrate.
