A plant tray which can be made in any selected length is made of light alloy in a continuous strip and is cut the required lengths. The cross section comprises a base (2) and tapering sides (3) topped by a rolled over lip (11). The end walls are plastic and shaped to fit over the cut ends of the metal trough and secured by adhesive or by any suitable means. The base and sides of the trough are reinforced by grooves (10).
