<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce loss of energy caused by a stand-by flow. <P>SOLUTION: The flow rate control device for a power steering apparatus comprises a variable aperture mechanism 12 provided in a passage for feeding a delivery oil from a pump 1 to a hydraulic device 9 forming the power steering apparatus and controlled by a solenoid mechanism 2; a spool 15 operated when a flow rate of the delivery oil from the pump 1 exceeds a predetermined value and returning the excessive delivery oil to a by-pass passage 17 connected to a pump suction port; and a control means 5 for controlling a value of excited current to the solenoid mechanism 2 to an appropriate value in response to the traveling state or the like of the vehicle.
