<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide calcium phosphate glass necessary for producing calcium phosphate fibers useful as a filler or a reinforcement for plastics, rubbers, etc., and as a heat insulation material, a friction-resistant material, and a material for living bodies; and a method for producing the calcium phosphate glass. <P>SOLUTION: The calcium phosphate glass for producing calcium phosphate fibers contains 0.01-2 wt% water and has a CaO/P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>molar ratio of 0.7-1. The method for producing the glass has a water content adjustment step before a melting treatment step and is characterized as follows: the remaining water content of a calcium phosphate glass raw material after the completion of the water content adjustment step is 1-20 wt%; the water content adjustment step is conducted at an atmospheric temperature of 60-150°C for a treatment time of 10 min-3 hr; the melting treatment step is conducted at a melting temperature of 1,000-1,400°C for a melting time of 0.5-10 hr; and the cooling rate after the melting treatment is set at 0.1-100°C/sec. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
