PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting apparatus for a tunnel or a road, possible to clean a cover glass without substantially carrying out traffic rules or by minimum traffic rules. SOLUTION: A surface of the cover glass (18) of the lighting apparatus (10) for the tunnel or the road is covered with a photocatalyst layer (20) wherein the photocatalyst is photoexcited by a light from a light source (16) or the sunlight. A surface of the photocatalyst layer (20) is super-hydrophilized by a photoexcitation and an adhered stain of a combustion product is easily washed away by such a way that water is jetted from a working car to the cover glass (18) as required.
