<p>A straight line of stitching of pref. metallic wire formed along one edge of the panel is contacted by a slide while another line of stitching is inserted along the other edge of the panel. The resistance between the slide and the stitching needle is continuously measured and the position of the panel adjusted so that the resistance between the two lines of stitching is maintained constant along the length of the panel. Pref. the panel has a conductive pile and to bear the panel a potential is applied across the lines of stitching. The energy distribution throughout the panel is uniform thereby reducing the possibility of damage and short circuiting. The panels are used for heated seat covers, cushions, blankets, carpets, etc.</p> |
