One or more cpds. of formula (I): (where R1 and R2 are H or monovalent 0-30C hydrocarbons; R1 is a 6-30C monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon; n=3-10; m=1-10), opt. neutralised or partially neutralised with an acid R"OPO(OH)2 or (R"O)2PO(OH) (where R" is a 8-18C monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon) are added in association with >=1 mineral oil to a hydrocarbon fuel, thus imparting detergent, anti-icing, anticorrosion and cleaning props. (I) or their neutralisation prodts. are pref. added in an amt. of 10-250 g/m3, and the mineral oil is pref. added in an amt. of 50-2000 g/m3. The mineral oil is pref. a naphthenic oil with a viscosity of 15-20 degrees Engler at 50 degrees C, or a bright stock solvent oil with a viscosity of ca. 40 degrees Engler at 50 degrees C.
