The connector comprises an insulating part(118) and an electrically conductive contact part(119). The insulating part is injection molded in a thermoplastic plastic. During molding the contact part is placed in the injection tool and injected thermoplastic flows through openings to surround the contact part. Sealant(132) is incorporated in a chamber between the contact part(119) and insulating part(118) after the plastic injection stage. Control members(123,135) for governing the electrical field are integrated in the contact part which also has a linear contact for electrical connection. A textured surface is formed on the contact part where it meets the insulating part. An internal or external cone is formed on the insulating part. Injection is effected at least partly under vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere. An independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing an insulating part(118) for the connector(101) in which thermoplastic is injected via openings around the contact part in a tool.
