DUAL BAND ANTENNA WITH TWIN PORTS, CAPABLE OF OPERATING AT TWO FREQUENCY BANDS

PURPOSE: A dual band antenna is provided to allow the antenna to operate at two frequency bands and have two separated ports corresponding to each of bands. CONSTITUTION: A dual band antenna has a slot(1) formed on a ground plane on a substrate. The slot has an open end for radiation and a closed end. The antenna has a first port formed by a first microstrip line(2) disposed on an opposite face of the substrate to the ground plane. The first microstrip line and the slot are coupled at a first distance(L1) measured from the closed end of the slot. The antenna has a second port formed by a second microstrip line(4) disposed on an opposite face of the substrate to the ground plane. The second microstrip line and the slot are coupled at a second distance(L2) measured from the closed end of the slot. The second distance is different from the first distance.
