The invention relates to a method for the production of chlorine dioxide, wherein chlorite is reacted with peroxomonosulfate in an acidic aqueous solution in the presence of a redox initiator at temperatures of 10 DEG C or more. Chloride and/or hydrogensulfate is added in order to accelerate the reaction at low temperatures. The inventive method provides for the complete and easy reaction of the ducts to form chlorine dioxide which is obtained in an aqueous solution. The formation of chlorine and chlorate and the reformation of chlorite is fully avoided.
|
