A gas turbine engine comprises accessories (34) (48) mounted to a fan casing (28) and a core engine (9), and a nacelle (55) that substantially surrounds the engine, and comprises an intake (12) and a thrust reverser unit (31). The unit (31) formed by two generally C-shaped and openable portions (31a, 31b), to provide access to the accessories (34)(48). The accessories may also be accessible via at least one door within the c-shaped portions, openable only when the c-shaped portions are closed. The nacelle (55) intake (12), and fan containment casing (33) may be integral, but may also be releasably attached, having acoustic panelling that extends from the downstream edge of the fan containment casing (33) to the upstream edge of the intake (12), and may have removable panels circumferentially disposed, radially outwardly of the fan containment casing (33). |
