A catalyst for oxidative dehydrogenation of C2 to C5 lower alkanes in the vapor phase in the presence of molecular oxygen to produce corresponding olefins, the catalyst containing Mn and a crystal phase identified by the peaks appearing on its X-ray diffraction spectrum (per Cu-K alpha cathode) where the diffraction angle 2&thetas; (+/- 0.3 DEG ) is at 32.9 DEG , 55.2 DEG , 23.1 DEG , 38.2 DEG and 65.8 DEG . |
