1,133,635. Chlorinated polymer laminates. DOW CHEMICAL CO. 29 July, 1966 [2 Aug., 1965], No. 34250/66. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions B2 and C3] Flashings for the construction or repair of buildings comprise a sheet of a chlorinated polymer containing at least 90 mole per cent of ethylene units and having a chlorine content of 25 to 50 weight per cent and a relative crystallinity of 15 to 28% at 25% chlorine and less than 10% at 34 or more per cent chlorine with corresponding values at intermediate chlorine contents, laminated to one or more self-supporting reinforcing materials. Specified reinforcing materials are woven and non-woven fabrics of glass, wool, cotton, hemp, jute, polyamide, polyester and acrylic polymer fibres. The ethylene may be copolymerized with propylene, butene, 1,7-octadiene, cyclopentene, 1,5-cyclo-octadiene, acrylic acid or esters, butadiene or styrene; and the chlorinated polyolefin may be mixed with fillers, e.g. carbon black, titanium dioxide, magnesium silicate, polyvinyl chloride, clay, calcium sulphate, mica, pulverized marble or limestone, asbestos, cork or wood flour; stabilizers, e.g. lead, tin, barium, cadmium, zinc and sodium salts, organic phosphites and epoxidized and non-epoxidized oils; and flame retardants, e.g. antimony oxides, tetrabromophthalic anhydride, perchloropentacyclododecane, tris - (2,3 - dibromopropyl) phosphate and tetrabromo bisphenol A.
|
