PURPOSE: A charging apparatus is provided to prevent overcharging of a secondary battery and detect overcharging of the secondary battery even in the charging apparatus having a relatively small charging current. CONSTITUTION: A charging apparatus(10) comprises a variable control unit for varying a preset timer expiration time period in accordance with an interrupted time if a charging operation is interrupted before reaching the preset timer expiration time period and a re-charging operation starts after the interruption.
