PURPOSE: Provided is a composition comprising the extract of Cuscuta species which has excellent reducing effect on blood glucose level. Therefore, the composition has preventing and treating effects on diabetes and its complications. CONSTITUTION: The pharmaceutical composition for treating diabetes and its complications is characterized by containing the extract of Cuscuta species as an active ingredient, pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent, or excipient. The extract is obtained by using water, C1-4 lower alcohol or their mixture as an extracting solvent.
