<p>An apparatus for determining permeability and porosity of a porous material comprises a support member (28) having a surface for supporting a sample (S) of said material, a fluid chamber housing (40) having a cyclindrical wall (42) and an end wall (44) cooperating to define a chamber for receiving permeant fluid, said end wall having a surface cooperating with said support member surface to clamp said sample therebetween, an opening in said end wall for introducing fluid to said sample, and a piston (50) for forcing said permeant fluid under pressure through said opening and said sample. Futhermore, the apparatus may be provided with a heater (66) and a thermocouple (67) enabling measurements under controlled temperature conditions. Embodiments arranged for normal permeability measurements on disk-shaped samples and lateral permeability on ring-shaped samples are described. <IMAGE></p> |
