Umbrella spokes (4) are pivotally connected at one end (5) to a vertical tubular support (1). A means are provided on the umbrella rod (10) for moving the latter in the axial direction in order to open and close the umbrella (3). The means for moving the rod comprises a motor with an output shaft formed by a threaded bar which cooperates with a nut in the rod. The umbrella comprises a rod extending coaxial to the vertical support, ribs (7) pivotally connected to the rod and spokes pivotally connected at one end (6) to the ribs.
